Nominees sought for E. Board

Nominations are sought to fill five vacancies on the PEF Executive Board, according to the PEF Special Elections Committee - Roy Bailey, Edith Cooper, Vivian Street and Bob Green.
Nominating petitions became available January 25 to fill the following Board seats:


Seat 90 - Representing members at the state Education Department, Higher Education Services Corp and the State University of New York in PEF Regions 5-9;
Seat 235 - Representing members at the state Labor Department in PEF Regions 9 and 12 and at the state Workers Compensation Board in Regions
10-12;
Seat 280 - Representing members at the state Department of Mental Hygiene working at Rochester Psychiatric Center and Rochester Children's Services, in certain Office of Mental Health main office items, and at Central New York Psychiatric Center;
Seat 410 - Representing members at Pilgrim Psychiatric Center and in certain Office of Mental Health main-office items; and
Seat 515 - Representing members at the state Transportation Department Region 11 (Manhattan), as well as members in NYMTC item numbers 96000-96999 in agency 30000 in PEF Division 214.


Nominating petitions are returnable to PEF by February 16. Board candidates must have been members since August 20, 1998.To sign a nominating petition, members must have belonged to the union since December 31, 1998. If only one candidate is certified for a post, that candidate will be automatically elected to it.


A special election will be held when more than one candidate is certified for a post. Ballots for these seats will be mailed on March 2, returnable to the American Arbitration Association by March 23. Constituents of a contested seat who do not receive a ballot by March 9, should contact AAA at 212-484-3220.

Those elected will serve the remainder of three-year terms which expire July 31, 2000.
