PEF member remembered with marathon run

Steve Pardee, PEF member and state Department of Transportation engineer, will join hundreds of other marathon runners on April 16 in England to raise money for leukemia patients in upstate New York. The run will also serve as a tribute to his friend and former co-worker, Gary Houde.

Houde, died Nov. 8, 1999, following a two-year battle with leukemia at the age of 53. He had worked for the Department of Transportation as a civil engineer for 29 years.
Pardee has never run a marathon before but felt so strongly about the need to fight leukemia that he was willing to try.

"Funds raised will be spent for research and for care of patients like Gary courageously fighting for their lives," Pardee said.
Pardee seeks donations for the Leukemia Society of America, which may be sent to him at 122 Jordan Blvd. Delmar, NY 12054.
