PEF needs fully mobilized divisions
now
Dont let
your division be PEFs weakest link
With PS&T contract negotiations
underway, more than 125 PEF divisions have accepted the
challenge to become fully mobilized.
Effective communication among members is
crucial, said PEF President Roger Benson.
With the onset of negotiations, we must be ready at
a moments notice. It is urgent that all our
divisions be fully mobilized. PEF leaders need full
support of the membership.
Members in divisions that are mobilized can quickly
participate in events. Through rapid communication, and
at a moments notice, members may be asked to make
calls, post notices on bulletin boards, distribute
leaflets and get people on the street.
There are several reasons to become
mobilized, said PEF Assistant Director of
Mobilization and Education Margaret Messer. Members
can help by speaking up about the budget and specific
legislative issues that PEF is fighting for. And there
are always issues within local divisions that could be
resolved if the members in the division had an
established communication network.
For those divisions who are fully mobilized, PEF
recognized their hard work and dedication by hosting a
conference for them at the end of February with
information on how to boost their mobilization plans to
the next level.
We also hope the council leaders who attended the
conference will pass along the information to the
divisions that have yet to mobilize, Messer said.
Were only as a strong as our weakest link. We
need to diligently complete the effort of bringing the
entire union to a fully mobilized status.
