A message from PEF Retirees President
Ray Ferraro
Social
Security, pensions, health insurance matter
Wherever I appear, I am asked, What
are the bill numbers for the pension COLA? I want to call
my legislators for support.
Tell your legislators bills will be introduced soon and
that you expect their support for a permanent, automatic
and fair pension adjustment.
If we can get the 283,000 retirees in the New York
Employees Retirement System mobilized, along with the
100,000 retirees in the New York Teachers Retirement
System (these numbers dont even include any of the
five New York City pension funds), the legislators will
start to pay attention.
On February 25, I traveled to Syracuse to reorganize the
Region 4 Chapter after the resignation of Audrey Snyder
as president. The meeting was well attended and elections
for the officers were held. James Adsit was elected
president and Oner Brewer was elected vice-president.
I thank PEF Vice-President Ken Brynien for coming to the
meeting and answering many questions on retiree issues. I
also thank PEF Region 4 Coordinator Dave Stallone for
helping to get this PEF Retirees chapter going again.
Get ready for a pension-justice rally in Albany on May 9.
Please contact your local PEF office for details about
bus transportation and help get all retirees to
participate.
