Performance awards checks on the way

By SHERRY HALBROOK
The Office of the State Comptroller has issued the payroll bulletin directing payment of the April 2006 performance (longevity) awards to PS&T employees. They will be paid in separate checks on April 19 for the administrative payroll and April 27 for those on the institution payroll cycle. Direct deposit is not available for this payment.

The awards are $1,250 for five years at the job rate and it doubles after 10 years.

To be eligible to receive a longevity award, you must meet the following criteria:
• You must be on the state payroll on March 31, 2006 (active or on leave with partial pay or on workers’ compensation or military leave) in a position in the PS&T bargaining unit; and

• You must have five or more, or 10 or more years of continuous service at a salary equal to or above the job rate, or the maximum of the grade of your position on March 31, 2006. Continuous service is defined as paid service (including part-time annual-salaried service and sick leave at half pay) or time on workers’ comp leave or military leave without pay; and

• You must not have received an “unsatisfactory” performance rating during the rating period ending between January 1 and December 31, 2005. Employees who were not rated during the period will receive the payment.

Employees who are full-time on March 31 or full-time employees who are on leave with partial pay, workers’ comp leave, military leave, or on a voluntary reduction in work schedule (VRWS) will receive the full payment. Employees who are part-time on March 31 will receive a prorated payment based on their part-time percentage on March 31.
