PEF Membership Benefits has bought limited quantity
FREE booklet offers help managing your deferred-comp distribution

If you have money in the state’s Deferred Compensation Plan or are about to retire and struggling with your investment distribution from the plan, you may want to request a copy of “Managing Your Deferred Compensation Plan Distribution.”

This booklet contains more than 40 pages of information about distribution options, investment strategy, fund selection, beneficiary selection and other helpful topics for the deferred-compensation investor.
The booklets were prepared by the Retired Public Employees Association Inc. (RPEA) and are made available to PEF members without charge by the PEF Membership Benefits Program, which has purchased a limited number of copies from RPEA.

“We are pleased to provide this valuable booklet at no charge to the many PEF members who have invested in deferred compensation,” says Philip Occhino, administrator of the PEF Membership Benefits Program.

“For several years, PEF has worked closely with the RPEA on pension issues and it has done an excellent job on this booklet,” Occhino says. “We hope it assists our members in making the important decisions required by the Deferred Compensation Plan.”

To request your copy of the booklet, “Managing Your Deferred Compensation Plan Distribution,” call 1-800-342-4306, ext. 243 or via the Membership Benefits web site.

“While this booklet was current when it was published this March, you should keep in mind that many changes have been proposed to the federal law governing deferred-compensation plans,” Occhino says.

PEF is advocating passage of the Comprehensive Retirement Security and Pension Reform Act (HR10/S-742), also known as “Portman-Cardin,” which would provide for greater flexibility and portability of deferred-compensation-plan distributions and increased maximum annual contributions to deferred compensation plans. This bi-partisan legislation has been passed by the US House of Representatives.
