Going green is great idea
To
the Editor:
Put your ear close to this note and hear the thunderous applause for your
move to “go green” by offering an online version of The Communicator!
I wish more organizations would consider this shift in tradition to become
environmentally aware. My postal carrier hauls tons of paper annually in the
form of magazines, flyers, catalogs etc. which easily could be viewed
online. One company sometimes sends its catalog weekly! I, in turn, bundle
up that paper and send it to the curb.
With advancements in technology we can now bank online, order tickets, food,
clothing, music etc. It just isn’t necessary to cut down trees for something
we can do in a more environmentally preserving way. We have a responsibility
to the planet we live on and the onus is on us to look after it for future
generations.
The Communicator is making a wise move to help save the environment. I
appeal to all members who have computers to sign up today for your “green”
Communicator!

Co-workers have been terrific
To
the Editor:
At 33 years old, I have just rejoined working at the NYS Office of Temporary
Disability Assistance/Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH), (having been
out) since September 2007, following a stroke during a brain tumor
resection.
During my leave, the staff at OAH went above and beyond, donating so much
time to help me cover bills and copays for physical and occupational
therapies. They never forgot about me – sending me cards, pictures and
“CARE” packages, and holding fundraisers. They were big givers.
We should all take their example and be so blessed to work with such caring
people.
My first day back at work, I was greeted by many hugs, flowers, and a
breakfast. It is so good to be working back at OAH, surrounded by a loving
work family.
