Nurses celebrate their profession

Nurses across the state were honored throughout May, which includes National Nurses Week.

About 50 nurses attended a competency fair at Buffalo Psychiatric Center May 10-12. They practiced their clinical competency doing various procedures such as blood draws.

Refreshments and door prizes topped off the festivities.

The Manhattan Psychiatric Center celebrated May 4 with a dinner for the nurses. About 150 nurses attended the event and were treated to tote bags from PEF Division 267. Each nurse also received a proclamation from the hospital.

At the Bernard M Fineson Developmental Disabilities Services Office, 58 nurses celebrated their profession May 19 with a video of Florence Nightingale’s Commemorative Global Service in conjunction with their theme of “Unity, Transformation and the Role of Nurses Worldwide.”

They were presented with a copy of the bestseller “Three Cups of Tea” by Greg Mortenson, RN, for their department’s library. They also received pins from PEF Region 11.
