PEF hot to trot in Corporate Challenge
By DEBORAH A. MILES
In an effort to raise money for charity through the GHI Corporate Challenge run
in Albany, the PEF team made an impressive showing at the May event which
attracted 6,400 runners and walkers.
PEF’s team included Ed Aluck, Jennifer Richardson, Chris Allen, Will Case,
Harold Eisenstein, Scott Goodspeed, Pam Gervais and Mario Bruni, in finishing
order.
“Most of our team members finished in just a little more than 20 minutes, which
is fantastic considering the male winner came in at 17 minutes, 15 seconds, and
the female winner at 20 minutes, 16 seconds.” said PEF Secretary-Treasurer Arlea
Igoe.
The participants started at the NYS Museum and ran the classic 3.5 miles through
to Washington Park. The teams were from emerging nanotechs to established
blue-chips, from school districts, colleges, hospitals, banks, law firms,
government agencies and non-profits.
The NYS United Teachers also had a team running, but it couldn’t catch the fast
feet of PEF. Nor could the team from the Governor’s Office of Employee
Relations.
“We beat them by a lot. There were 230 teams entered and PEF came in 54th,” said
Richardson, who organized the PEF team.
“This year, we brought back a tradition. It was a great day for a race, and
exciting to interact with your co-workers and others.”
PEF also received a plaque as a corporate sponsor, which is displayed in the
reception area at headquarters.
