One vote tilts E. Board seat

Migdalia Ramos-Ensslin was elected May 28 in a real squeaker to fill a mid-term vacancy in Seat 435 on the PEF Executive Board.
Ramos-Ensslin topped N. Gwen Pope by just one vote in the race to fill seat 435, which represents certain members at the state Office of Children and Family Services in PEF Region 8, except for those at Cass Residential and Brookwood Residential facilities.
Nominations open July 7 to fill five more vacancies on the board:

• Seat 15, which represents certain members who work at the state Department of Civil Service;

• Seat 45, which represents certain members who work at the following state Department of Correctional Services facilities at Fishkill, Wallkill, Eastern, Woodbourne, Downstate, Mid-Orange; Otisville, Camp Beacon, Ulster, Shawangunk and Sullivan;

• Seat 145, which represents certain members at the state Division of Parole in PEF Regions 1-9 and at the Adirondack Park;

• Seat 275, which represents certain members in PEF Regions 2 and 4 in main office and facilities at the state Office of Mental
Health including: Hutchings, Hutchings Children’s, Central New York, Elmira and Elmira Children’s (Region 3 items only) psychiatric centers, as well as at the state Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities at the offices and facilities of: Sunmount, Finger Lakes and Central New York (Region 4 items only); and

• Seat 440, which represents certain members at the state Office of Children and Family Services in PEF Regions 9-12, and Brookwood Residential facility.

Nominating petitions for these seats must be returned to the PEF Special Elections Committee by July 28. If more than one candidate for a seat is certified, a special election will we held.
