Region 8 seeks female stalwarts; Object: Honoring them

The PEF Region 8 Women’s Program, which was re-activated in March after a hiatus of several years, is looking for a few good women to honor.

“We want to recognize and acknowledge dynamic women leaders in Region 8 who have made a difference in the lives of PEF members,” said Maddie Shannon-Roberts, who chairs the program. “So, we’re asking leaders and members in our region to nominate women they feel have exhibited outstanding leadership within the union and Region 8 at any time over the 30-year history of PEF.”

To nominate someone, submit a typed 200-word essay on why your nominee merits this award, including details on how long the person has been working for the state and the role she has taken in PEF, as well as any outstanding meritorious service to the members of PEF.

E-mail your nomination to tcomanzo@pef.org. Or mail it to: Tom Comanzo/ Maddie Shannon-Roberts, PEF, PO Box 12414, Latham, NY 12212-2414. Nominations must be received by July 31.

The “Women of Merit” who are selected will be honored at 5:30 p.m. September 3 at a Champagne and Chocolate Reception prior to the Region 8 delegates dinner. The winners also will be formally recognized at the Region 8 Leadership Conference scheduled for November 7-9.
