Region 5 launches women’s committee
PEF members in Region 5 are being asked to become more proactive in social, educational and political matters related to women.

To lead that effort, a Region 5 Women’s Committee is being launched Thursday, July 16, at 6 p.m. at The Binghamton Regency.

Cathy Kozlowski, a PEF Division 240 member, and Kathy D’Arminio, chair of the PEF Health and Safety Committee, are co-chairs of the Region 5 Women’s Committee.

Kozlowski said the information on women’s committees available at the 2008 PEF convention inspired her to start a committee in Region 5.

“I thought we needed it,” Kozlowski said. “Our members need to be updated on educational issues. The committee will also enhance socializing and networking.”

D’Arminio said the committee will help empower members on a personal, regional and statewide level.

“The committee is open to women and men interested in advocating for women’s issues,” Darminio said. “Many areas, such as equal pay for equal work, need to be addressed.”

The committee is also seeking a secretary and a treasurer. If you are interested in either of these positions, please attend the meeting. Suggestions for the committee can be sent by
e-mail to pef5women@gmail.com.

If you plan on attending, please e-mail or call the PEF Region 5 office at (607) 785-1699 by Monday, July 13.
