Agenda, some Resolutions OK’dConvention delegates approved with minor amendments the union’s proposed legislative agenda for the coming year. PEF’s legislative priorities are to pursue legislation to: ensure quality services; protect employee rights; maintain a stable public workforce; reform state and federal labor law; improve working conditions and benefits; and provide for a well-deserved retirement.
After spirited discussion, the delegates also acted on several resolutions. Among the measures adopted were: resolutions calling for strengthening PEF’s division steward councils; continuing the union’s Member Mobilization Program; revising PEF’s regional financial guidelines and accountability requirements to make them consistent with those for the union’s divisions; publication in The Communicator of minutes of PEF Executive Board meetings; and, improving COLA benefits.
