PEF Board votes to back candidates in ’02 races

The PEF Executive Board has endorsed the political candidates reported here for the November 11 General Election. In some districts, no candidates were endorsed, as noted below.

The endorsements are based on interviews and reviews of individual candidates’ voting records and qualifications, followed by recommendations from PEF’s regional and statewide Political Action Committees.

The PEF board will review its endorsements following the September 10 primaries and add or replace some endorsements as necessary. Those changes will be reported in the October issue of The Communicator.

Districts where major-party primary elections are expected are indicated in boldface. However, the reviews of petition challenges are not yet complete and could change the status of some primaries.

Candidates whose names are printed entirely in UPPERCASE are NOT incumbents.

Because the state was redistricted this year based on the 2000 Census data, some incumbents’ districts have been renumbered.
