PEF
magazine, PR department win AFT honors
In July, the PEF Public Relations Department won five
awards for communications excellence from the AFT
Communicators Association.
The awards included First Place for
Best News Story for coverage of the 2003 PEF
nurses rally, and First Place for Best Public
Relations Program for the Keep the doors of Hope Open broadcast and print
ad campaign that appeared around the state in
December 2002. Colorful lead, well-done,
concise; photos of nurses in blue help make this
story of a rally at the state Capitol
memorable, the judges wrote. About the Hope
campaign, the judges commented, Powerful
use of contrast between the wealthys tax
cuts and the needs of patients. Musical
discordance and contrast was quite effective. A
hard-hitting, professional campaign. |
The magazine also won
awards in the General Excellence category, which
rates the quality of three consecutive issues,
and took honors for Best Art and Unique
Performance |

The Communicator earned Award of
Merit honors for its April, May and June 2002
issues. The judges comments included:
Sharp looking magazine with lively,
informative articles, and back cover
PR ads are great
overall excellent
job.
The union magazine also won Honorable Mentions
for the cover page of the April 2002 issue and
for the Quality Services from Quality
People, postcard campaigns. |
