Nominees
for Region 4 coordinator sought
The PEF Special Elections Committee is seeking nominees
for Region 4 coordinator to fill the vacancy created by
the recent resignation of David Stallone who was promoted
out of the PS&T unit to a management position.
PEF Executive Board Member Pat Smith of the state Office
of Mental Health was appointed by PEF President Roger
Benson to chair an interim Region 4 Leadership Committee
until a new coordinator is elected. Smith said she will
not run for the coordinator position.
Also, balloting is being conducted to fill Seat 437
representing members at the state Office of Children and
Family Services in the Capital District, except those
working at 52 Washington Avenue in Rensselaer. The
election is between Angela Batorsky and Genette
Hollander.
The PEF Special Elections Committee has also announced
quarterly elections to fill the following vacancies on
the PEF Executive Board:
Seat 150 representing PEF members at the state
Division of Parole in Manhattan and the Bronx;
Seat 235 representing members at the state Labor
Department in Albany County;
Seat 280 representing members at the state Office
of Mental Health in PEF Regions 2 and 3 at Rochester
Psychiatric Center, Rochester Childrens Services,
the OMH main office, Central New York Psychiatric Center,
Buffalo Psychiatric Center, Elmira Childrens
Services, and Elmira Psychiatric Center;
Seat 465 representing members working for state
agencies with codes beginning 20 in PEF
Regions 1-7 and 13; and
Seat 540 representing members working for NDRI and
for Lockport Hospital.
Petitioning begins October 1 to nominate candidates for
these posts and ends October 24.
You must have been a PEF member since October 24, 2001 to
run for regional coordinator. Board candidates must have
been PEF members since April 24, 2003.
To sign a nominating petition, you must have been a PEF
member since September 8, 2003.
If more than one eligible candidate is nominated for a
post, a special election will be held. Ballots will be
mailed November 6, returnable to the American Arbitration
