Nominees for Region 4 coordinator sought

The PEF Special Elections Committee is seeking nominees for Region 4 coordinator to fill the vacancy created by the recent resignation of David Stallone who was promoted out of the PS&T unit to a management position.

PEF Executive Board Member Pat Smith of the state Office of Mental Health was appointed by PEF President Roger Benson to chair an interim Region 4 Leadership Committee until a new coordinator is elected. Smith said she will not run for the coordinator position.

Also, balloting is being conducted to fill Seat 437 representing members at the state Office of Children and Family Services in the Capital District, except those working at 52 Washington Avenue in Rensselaer. The election is between Angela Batorsky and Genette Hollander.

The PEF Special Elections Committee has also announced quarterly elections to fill the following vacancies on the PEF Executive Board:
• Seat 150 representing PEF members at the state Division of Parole in Manhattan and the Bronx;

• Seat 235 representing members at the state Labor Department in Albany County;

• Seat 280 representing members at the state Office of Mental Health in PEF Regions 2 and 3 at Rochester Psychiatric Center, Rochester Children’s Services, the OMH main office, Central New York Psychiatric Center, Buffalo Psychiatric Center, Elmira Children’s Services, and Elmira Psychiatric Center;

• Seat 465 representing members working for state agencies with codes beginning “20” in PEF Regions 1-7 and 13; and
• Seat 540 representing members working for NDRI and for Lockport Hospital.

Petitioning begins October 1 to nominate candidates for these posts and ends October 24.

You must have been a PEF member since October 24, 2001 to run for regional coordinator. Board candidates must have been PEF members since April 24, 2003.

To sign a nominating petition, you must have been a PEF member since September 8, 2003.

If more than one eligible candidate is nominated for a post, a special election will be held. Ballots will be mailed November 6, returnable to the American Arbitration Association (AAA) by December 1. — Sherry Halbrook
