Management development course offered under PS&T
contract
A new Management Development Program was introduced last month for PEF’s PS&T
and Roswell Park Cancer Institute members in salary grades 25 and higher who
already have managerial responsibility in a broad scope of programmatic and/or
administrative functions.
Participation requires a four-to-five-month commitment from each nominee and his
or her agency.
The program is designed to enhance the ability of participants to manage
successfully in state government. The program includes: two three-day
residential seminars; self assessments; an on-the-job project; creation of a
personal management development plan; and a one-day final-project-completion
conference and information seminar.
The program is funded under the PS&T contract, however travel and overnight
expenses are paid by the participants’ employing agencies, which have to approve
their employees’ participation.
The program is being offered twice in the Lake George area before the current
contract expires April 1, 2007. One session began September 25 and a second
session starts November 10.
Because so little time remains in this final contract year, applications were
due in September for both sessions. PEF distributed information about the
program in August through its regional offices, Executive Board and division
leaders.
