Nominees sought for five vacant E. Board seats
By SHERRY HALBROOK
John Benson has won the special election to fill the mid-term vacancy in PEF Executive Board Seat 145, which represents some members at the state Division of Parole in PEF Regions 1-9, and at the Adirondack Park.

A runoff election will be held between Maureen Hogle and Bonnie Wood to fill a mid-term vacancy in Seat 275 which represents certain members at the state Office of Mental Health (OMH) and the Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (OMRDD).

Nominating petitions will become available October 1 for candidates to fill five more mid-term vacancies on the board:
The report in September of a mid-term vacancy in Board Seat 240 was incorrect. Jim Malloy holds seat 240.

The vacancy is in Seat 235. Both seats represent members at the state Labor Department and at the state Workers’ Compensation Board. Constituents of both seats have been notified of the error.

Other seats to be filled in the fourth quarter special elections are:
• Seat 25 which represents certain PEF members at the state Department of Correctional Services working at the following facilities – Albion, Elmira, Camp Monterey, Rochester, Groveland, Southport, Orleans, Livingston, and Willard;

• Seat 315 which represents certain PEF Region 8 members working for OMRDD main Office and/or Capital District Developmental Disabilities Services Office (DDSO).

• Seat 345 which represents certain PEF Region 9 members working for OMRDD main office and those in PEF Division 248 at Taconic DDSO; and

• Seat 420 which represents all PEF members working for the state Department of Motor Vehicles.

Nominating petitions for these seats must be returned to the PEF Special Elections Committee by October 22. If more than one candidate for a seat is certified, a special election will we held, with ballots mailed November 12 and returnable by December 4.
