PEF Membership Benefits changing insurance companies for home, auto
PEF Membership Benefits has announced that Liberty Mutual will provide car and homeowners' insurance to members who participate in the voluntary discount program that lets you pay through automatic payroll deduction.

The switch from Jardine Group Services to Liberty Mutual will take place in early December. However, members who are already using Jardine's will continue to receive that coverage until their policy year expires. They will then have the opportunity to choose Liberty Mutual.

Phil Occhino, administrator of PEF Membership Benefits, said Liberty Mutual was selected from a field of five bidders. Experience handling group plans, competitive rates and accessibility of service reps were among the factors which led to the choice, he said.

Bidders were also rated on their readiness to guarantee coverage to all PEF members.

Liberty has offices all over New York, Vermont, Connecticut, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. It offers extended hours, including all day Saturday, and it will allow members to receive insurance-rate quotes over the internet.

Deloitte and Touche, LLP helped the Membership Benefits Program solicit the proposals and will help in the transition to Liberty Mutual, which received the highest overall score of the five bidders.
