New workshops aim to invigorate divisions
Mobilization
training gears up!
By MARGARET MESSER
As contract negotiations and statewide campaigns
progress, we must have the membership informed and ready
to get active. Many divisions are fully mobilized and
have started working on local campaigns, as well as
becoming involved in statewide campaigns.
We need to continue to internally organize and educate
our membership.
In order to better prepare our fully mobilized divisions
for these initiatives, we encourage our divisions to
expand their knowledge of mobilizations power by
attending various workshops offered through our
Mobilization Department in conjunction with other PEF
departments. We are committed to continue division-level
educational opportunities.
Below is a sample listing of workshops that can be
accessed by your division:
Orienting Your Mobilizers;
Updating Your Workplace Charting and Mapping;
Testing Your Mobilization Network;
Selecting Issues for Local Work-Place Campaigns;
Developing a Mobilization Campaign;
Using Mobilization to Help Resolve L-M Issues;
Running Effective Meetings;
Communicating our Message: The Use of Flyers,
Newsletters, E-Mail, etc.;
Developing Allies: Building Community Coalitions;
Solidarity Works!: The Use of Social Events in
Building the Union; and
Recruiting Volunteers.
We are also able to tailor workshops depending on the
regional or divisional needs. These trainings can be held
after work, or on weekends, evenings or lunch hours.
Please call the Mobilization Department Margaret
Messer, assistant
director of mobilization, Denise Young or Kim Loccisano, Mobilization training specialists at
