Wanted: 2 new Executive Board reps
By SHERRY HALBROOK

PEF Executive Board Seat 190 is still vacant following the retirement of Brian Bush in 1999.

PEF's Special Elections Committee reports that nominations for the seat, conducted in the fourth-quarter, failed to produce a certifiable candidate. So, the process will begin again in January.

Nominations will also be held at that time to fill a second vacancy. This is in Seat 165, which was formerly held by James Blake.

Seat 190 represents some members at the state Health Department main offices in PEF Region 8 - Wadsworth Center and Executive Park South (PEF Division 205B).
Seat 165 represents some members at the state Executive Department: Executive Alcoholic Beverage Control; Executive State Police; Executive Military Naval Affairs; Executive Veterans Affairs; Division of Probation and Correctional Alternatives; Executive Adirondack Park; Executive Criminal Justice Services; and Executive Corrections Commission.

Petitioning to nominate candidates to fill the unexpired term, which ends next July, begins January 24 and ends February 14. You must have been a PEF member since August 18, 1999 to run for these offices. To sign a nominating petition, you must have been a PEF member since Dec. 31, 1999.

If more than one eligible candidate is nominated for a seat, a special election will be held. Ballots will be mailed to members of that constituency on February 28, returnable to the American Arbitration Association (AAA) by March 20. You must have been a PEF member since Feb. 14, 2000 to be eligible to vote in this election if it is held.
Any eligible member of the constituency who does not receive a ballot by March 6 should contact AAA at 212-484-3220 to request one.
