Convention guests speak their minds

"You were there when I needed you, and I will be there when you need me. I look forward to a close, effective, productive relationship with PEF."

"We need to learn to speak with one voice as unions. Our future is a matter of choice, not chance."

"Because of what government and public employees have done, we have the peace of mind that the meat your family eats is clean and your prescription medicine is tested and safe."
"As long as you stay united, we'll stand behind you in this fight for a fair contract."

A proposed constitutional amendment that would have had PEF hold its future conventions every two years, instead of annually, was defeated at the 21st Annual PEF convention in Rochester.

The proposal was meant to save the union money and allow it to redirect resources to provide more training for PEF's general membership.

Delegates advocating to keep the annual conventions stated that, the annual convention is just too valuable an opportunity for building understanding and unity among the elected representatives from every part of PEF's diverse membership to surrender.

Delegates also took up and approved an amendment that expands the window for scheduling PEF conventions to include September, as well as October and November.
