Special PEF elections fill four vacancies

Pat Baker is now a vice president of PEF, filling the vacancy created by the death of Jean DeBow last summer.

According to PEF’s Special Elections Committee, no balloting was necessary since Baker was the only candidate who submitted nominating petitions signed by a sufficient number of eligible PEF members.
Baker will serve the remainder of DeBow’s unexpired three-year term, which ends July 31, 2003.

“On behalf of the four other PEF statewide officers, I warmly welcome Pat to our leadership team and look forward to a long and productive relationship,” said PEF President Roger Benson.

Three vacant seats on the PEF Executive Board were also filled in November by candidates automatically elected as the only ones submitting sufficient signatures on their nominating petitions.

Carl Franklin fills seat 210, representing some PEF members at the state Insurance Fund.

Robert Varano fills seat 225, representing some PEF members at the state Labor Department and all members at the Workers Compensation Board.

And Wesley Bartlett fills seat 130 which represents members working for the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historical Preservation.
