![]() Region 10 remembers World Trade Center victims New York, NY Dozens of PEF members gathered at a Manhattan memorial service in November in honor of the 34 PEF members who lost their lives in the attacks on the World Trade Center. The service took place at SEIU Local 1199s auditorium on West 43rd Street and was attended by families of the victims. This event is not only a tribute to our members who made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of New York state, but a tribute to the important work they did which needs to continue as we all struggle to recover from this tragic attack, said PEF President Roger Benson. The service included speeches by union, state government and religious leaders, as well as musical performances. PEF Region 10 Coordinator Jennifer Faucher distributed to relatives of each of the victims white candles wrapped in purple ribbons, bearing the names of their loved ones. Thirty-one of the members were employees of the state Tax and Finance Department and three worked for the state Department of Transportation. Denyce Duncan Lacy The Communicator Home Page |
