1 race under way; more seats open
Two Exec. Board vacancies filled
By SHERRY HALBROOK
Two new members of the PEF Executive Board have been elected automatically as
the only certified candidates to fill those vacancies.
Ballots are being counted December 1 in a race between two certified candidates
to fill a third board vacancy.
And no candidates were nominated for three other vacant board seats. Nominating
petitions will be available for those seats and at least one new board vacancy
when the 2007 first-quarter special elections process begins in January.
Please, be seated
As the only certified candidate for Seat 125, representing PEF members at the
state Office of General Services, Greg McBride will fill that vacancy.
And Robert Montalbano was the lone certified candidate for Seat 350 representing
members at the Hudson Valley Developmental Disabilities Services Office.
Making a race of it
Two candidates — Paul Cecilia and Joseph Greenfield — were certified for Seat 50
representing members at the state Department of Correctional Services facilities
— Sing Sing, Green Haven, Bedford Hills, Arthur Kill, Queensboro, Taconic,
Bayview, Edgecombe, Lincoln, Fulton and central administration offices in New
York city.
Balloting ends November 30 and votes will be counted December 1.
More seats still available
Since no nominations were received by October 24 for the following three seats,
that opportunity will begin again in January:
• Seat 85 representing members (other than teaching and research nurse 2s) at
the state University of New York Health and Science Center in Syracuse, and all
members in SUNY at central administration, and the following campuses — Albany,
Alfred, Binghamton, Brockport, Buffalo State, Buffalo University, Canton,
Columbia-Greene, Cortland, Delhi, Empire State, Environmental Science and
Forestry, Fredonia, Geneseo, Morrisville, New Paltz, Oswego, Plattsburgh,
Potsdam, and Purchase;
• Seat 180 representing members at the state Health Department (including those
on the main office payroll) working in PEF Regions 1-7 (except Saranac Lake), in
Herkimer, and at the Oxford and Batavia Veterans Homes; and
• Seat 190 representing state Health Department members (including those on the
main office payroll) who work in Region 8, at the Wadsworth Centers, Axelrod,
Griffin and all related labs.
Nominations will also open in January to fill Seat 485, representing certain PEF
members of PEF Division 190C at the state Department of Taxation and Finance and
the state Division of the Lottery in PEF Region 8.
