Board forms new committees

Two statewide standing committees were established by the PEF Retirees Executive Board at its January meeting.

The Organizational Administration Committee is charged with monitoring PEF Retirees’ organizational structure and processes and initiating changes when they are warranted. It is chaired by Mary Reid of the Long Island Chapter and includes Rich Magelaner of the NYC Chapter and Marjorie DeVoe of the Capital Region Chapter.

The Organizational Administration Committee has an ad hoc subcommittee to look into possible changes in the dental plan. This subcommittee is co-chaired by Reid and Steve Muscarella of the Buffalo Chapter.

The second new standing committee is the Finance Committee. It includes: the chair, Jim Adsit of the Syracuse Chapter; Cal Thayer, PEF Retirees’ representative to the PEF Executive Board; Eileen Spence of the Rochester Chapter; and Ray Ferraro of the Binghamton Chapter.

The Finance Committee will monitor our financial processes and change them as needed, develop financial guidelines, and perform audits.

On the local front, we are moving ahead with re-establishing the Utica Chapter and Peter Yousey has agreed to become chapter president. We hope to announce its first meeting soon to all Utica-area members.

And we’ve received calls about the new prescription drug plan and particularly the categorized list of drugs, called the formulary.

For a copy of the formulary, visit the NYS Department of Civil Service Web site at www.cs.state.ny.us or call Express Scripts at (877) 769-7447 and choose option 4.
