Rice, Keller elected to PEF E. Board; nominees sought to fill four vacancies
By SHERRY HALBROOK
Gail Rice and Richard Keller have been elected to fill two mid-term vacancies on the PEF Executive Board.
Rice fills Seat 65, which represents all PEF members at the state’s Vocational and Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities (VESID).
Keller was elected to Seat 395, representing members at Pilgrim Psychiatric Center’s outpatient unit, Sagamore Psychiatric Center for Children and Youth, and Region 12 members at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center.
Meanwhile, more retirements — Irene Bland, Richard Ensminger, Elezora Hinkle and Matthew Thoyalil — have opened up four more vacancies on the board, and now nominees are sought to fill them as well.
Nominations open July 6 to fill Seats 145, 265, 405 and 410.
Seat 145 represents PEF members at the state Division of Parole in PEF Regions 1-9.
Seat 265 represents members at Western NY DDSO, Western NY Children’s Psychiatric Center, PEF Region 1 members at the state Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (OMRDD) main office, Capital District DDSO, Long Island DDSO, Brooklyn DDSO and Finger Lakes
DDSO.
Members represented by Seat 405 include those at Long Island DDSO and OMRDD main office staff in PEF Region 12.
Seat 410 represents members at Pilgrim Psychiatric Center and PEF Region 12 members at the state Office of Mental Health main office.
Nominees must have been PEF members since December 24, 2004. Nominating petitions must be submitted to PEF by July 27. If more than one eligible candidate is certified for the same seat, an election will be held, with ballots being mailed August 10.
Ballots must be returned by August 31 for counting by the American Arbitration Association September 1.
