Still time to volunteer for Campaign 2004 effort to get out the voters

If you have been sitting on the fence trying to decide whether to volunteer to work on registering and mobilizing voters for the 2004 general election in November, it is not too late to apply.

Just call the PEF Legislative Office at 1-800-724-4997 for more information.

“We have already had a wonderful response from many PEF members and retirees,” said PEF President Roger Benson, “but the door is still open for others who want to help.”

While only a limited number of positions are available for those who will work full-time on the campaign as temporary staff of PEF’s affiliate, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), many others can volunteer to work on weekends.

PEF is also looking into the possibility of two-week stints for volunteers to work with its other international union affiliate, the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) or the AFL-CIO. More information about this will be shared as it becomes available. — Sherry Halbrook
