Eager to start registering NH voters
Lynne Tillotson was a PEF member at the state Division for Youth (now the Office of Children and Family Services) until she retired six years ago.
But she cut her teeth as an activist, she said, “before that, when I was a teacher in New York City and got involved when Al Shanker was organizing the teacher’s union.
“I’ve always felt that it’s vitally important to take part in the political process. I’ve supported the campaigns of some local candidates, and I always vote,” Tillotson said.
She wants to be involved in this presidential election, she said, because “It’s about people keeping their promises.”
While her political campaign experience is limited, Tillotson brings her own perspectives and skills to this campaign.
“I have a good sense of humor and a sense of focus. I work with the Alternatives to Violence Project and conduct workshops in prisons,” she said. “I’m also a licensed mediator and I enjoy helping people resolve their differences.”
Tillotson said she is really looking forward to the campaign as “an opportunity for growing and meeting new people I (otherwise) would never meet.
“I’m very excited about it. I love that we are going to be registering people to vote, because I feel that is the first and most important hurdle for them to get past. Once they are registered, I believe they will want to vote.”
