It’s our job to find the
bad veggie before you do. Lets keep it that way.Help keep our food supply safe, by keeping our inspection levels safer. One potato, two potato, three potato, four .... Your mother told you not to play games with your food. The state shouldn’t either. After someone gets sick as a result of unsanitary food conditions is not the time to start food inspections, yet, this is what the state wants to do. The state Executive Budget would replace annual inspections of food stores, pet dealers, and breeders with risk-based inspections and would reduce the number of inspectors. If these cuts are enacted nearly 10,000 inspections of food retailers and animal breeders will go undone and increase the likelihood of unsanitary conditions and food-borne diseases. Add to this the increasing importation of food from foreign nations that have regulations less stringent than our own, and our food inspection becomes even more important. Annual inspections ensure our food is properly handled and stored. Tell the state to stop playing games with your food. Don’t be a couch-potato — Call the governor and your legislators at 1-877-255-9417 and tell them to reject risk-based inspection of our food and to stop the funding cuts to the Consumer Food Service program within the Department of Agriculture and Markets.
