March madness has arrived at the state capitol!  The New York State Legislature, by votes of 197 to 1, passed S.6479/A.9421 to create more government accountability by requiring the disclosure of information for contract services entered into by state agencies.  The state hires costly private consultants for computer programming, engineering, research, accounting and many other professional services.  Right now, the state doesn’t know how many consultants work for it or even how much it spends on consultant contracts. The contract disclosure bill would change that.
