Governor,
when the cuffs come off, will the crime rate take off? Keep Camps Gabriels, Georgetown, McGregor and Pharsalia operated by the Department of Correctional Services. Governor, closing these correctional facilities risks our public safety, and only you can stop it. Inmates are getting education, substance abuse treatment and job training at these facilities, skills they need to remain law-abiding and productive when they return to our communities. The inmates gain the skills they need to build new, responsible lives, and the local communities around the camps benefit economically from the jobs and from the free public services provided by inmate work crews from the camps. Without the skills inmates acquire in programs at these camps to properly prepare them for release, it’s just a matter of time before they threaten our communities and return to prison. Governor, only you can stop this. Keep Camp McGregor, Camp Pharsalia, Camp Gabriels and Camp Georgetown Correctional Facilities open. Help keep our communities safe. Give New York’s inmates the tools they need to become productive citizens.
