employees, the bigger picture.Debra Hunt is a civil engineer represented by the New York State Public Employees Federation (PEF). She works for the state Department of Transportation inspecting bridges and viaducts from a boom truck. She can be seen in the Bronx inspecting all aspects of highway conditions, from guide rails, lighting and crash-prevention devices to pavement and signs.
Debra is just one example of a DOT employee working to keep the state’s roads and bridges safe for all New Yorkers.
PEF’s 56,000 professionals are on the job every day in every part of the state serving the public as environmental engineers who monitor the air we breathe, as nurses who provide critical care, and in the role of Debra Hunt as a DOT professional inspecting highways and bridges, making sure every motorist travels safely.
