Governor,
comparison shopping stretches our tax dollars.Finding the best value benefits taxpayers. You can do this by signing the Cost-Benefit Analysis Bill. Everyone knows how to get the best bang for the buck — you comparison shop. Businesses do this through a “cost-benefit analysis.” Yet, each year the state of New York spends more than $2.5 billion on private consultants, without determining if it’s the best value for our tax dollars. All we’re advocating is accountability. Shouldn’t the state do a cost-benefit analysis before contracting out? It would stretch tax dollars and is in the best interest of taxpayers. Similar laws are already in place in Maine. Massachusetts, Maryland, California, Connecticut and Vermont, and it could save New York state taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars each year. Anyone interested in getting the best value for state taxpayers should support a cost-benefit analysis. Public employees are a better value for our tax dollars, but don’t take our word for it. Sign the Cost-Benefit Analysis Bill and compare the costs yourself. Governor, sign S.6575 Spano/A.1259 John.
