Institute for Basic Research.
Closing Doors. Killing Hope.

The Executive Budget places the Institute for Basic Research on the state’s chopping block, killing the hope of thousands of developmentally disabled clients and their families.

Closing the Institute for Basic Research will end over 35 years of ground-breaking research into devastating conditions such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s disease, autism and Down syndrome, and eliminate unique diagnostic and clinical services.

There is a better way. Ask the state’s most profitable corporations and wealthiest individuals to carry their fair share of the state’s fiscal burden. Close corporate tax loopholes and implement a temporary tax surcharge on the richest New Yorkers.

Tell state lawmakers to pass a budget that preserves all the available treatment options for people with mental illness in our communities.

Keep the Institute for Basic Research open. Keep hope alive.
